Top Ten Tuesday (25) Top ten sequels I'm dying to read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme/original feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Click the link to go to their site to see the original list for today plus links to a whole slew of other blogs. After you read mine, of course.

Today's topic is: top ten sequels I can't wait to read

As I was looking through my TBR to compile this list, I realized that I'm really not reading that many series right now. I do have a few I'm excited for, but I seem to be drawn to stand-alones more and more lately. So I'm splitting this list in two: 5 sequels I can't wait for, and 5 series starters I'm excited to read.

5 sequels I can't wait to read

9627755 15792316 12578370
 16060716 17449197

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins (Anna and the French Kiss #3)
I don't really consider these books a series, but since this is being billed as book #3, I'm going to count it. Stephanie Perkins is amazing. This book is at the tippy-top of my most anticipated books of 2014.
Split Second by Kasie West (Pivot Point #2)
I loved Pivot Point and cannot wait to find out what happens next.
Perfect Lies by Kiersten White (Mind Games #2)
Mind Games was one of the more polarizing reads this year. People loved it or hated it. I fall into the former's camp. I thought it was awesome and cannot wait for more.
Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray (The Diviners #2)
I really enjoyed The Diviners, who followers a teen in the 20s who can "read" objects. I hate this redesign of the covers though. It's horrible and really doesn't fit the series at all.
Unhinged by A.G. Howard (Splintered #2)
Splintered was an interesting reimagining of Wonderland, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm excited to dive back into darker world, but I freaking hate this cover. I hate it.

5 series starters I can't wait to read

13138635 13645645 13597755
13574417 10929432

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
I'm excited to dive into this story of two teens who are the only survivors of a space ship crash. Plus, that cover. Gah! Serious cover love.
Uninvited by Sophe Jordan
A teen girl becomes ostraized when her genetic test comes back showing that she is predisposed to become a killer.
Hexed by Michelle Krys
A popular cheerleader whose mom runs an occult shop gets wrapped up in the war between witches and sorcerers.
Alienated by Melissa Landers
Handpicked to host the first alien exchange student, a teen girl finds herself falling in love. Again, serious cover love. I love whoever is in charge of cover design over at Disney Hyperion.
The Archived by Victoria Schwab
This book came out last January and its sequel comes out this January. I've been meaning to read this for months, and have even checked it out from the library a couple of times. After finally finishing Vicious this last week, I can tell you that this book has gotten a huge bump up my TBR. I sometimes like reading the first book (or second book) close to the (next) sequel's release date so I don't have as long to wait.

So those are the sequels and series starters I cannot wait to get my hands on. What books made your list? Link me up!

  1. This is a great list! I totally agree about the redesign for Libba's books! I loved the old cover of The Diviners! And for some reason that book really creeped me out and I can't wait for the next one either!

  2. How could I forget Isla?!? I haven't read Lola yet (I will soon though) but seriously I want Isla. I'm with you on Lair of Dreams and Split Second. Totally agree on that Lair of Dreams cover. I really don't understand why they redesigned the covers.

  4. Man, I wish I *wasn't* reading so many series right now. It's too much! :( I loved These Broken Stars, and I love that cover soooo much. Can't wait till they release the cover for the sequel! I'm reading Unhinged right now and it's pretty awesome, but I agree...those covers are blech. So many on your list I'm looking forward to! Oh, and I hate the cover redesign for Libba Bray's series, too. Why'd they have to go and do that?!?

  12. I haven't read Lola and the Boy Next Door yet, but I'm oddly really excited for Isla and the Happily Ever After. And Split Second, yeah, that's one where I'm really, really excited to know what happens next.

  15. I also cannot wait to start These Broken Stars and The Archived. Both sound fantastic.
And I agree with you about the Unhinged cover - also not a fan. I wasn't enamored by the book either, but I'll reserve my thoughts on reading the sequel until I start seeing reviews of it.

  17. There is a Diviners cover redesign? Really people????That cover was probably the most talked about of 2012!! I will admit I only bought it because of the cover!!! Why do they do that? I seriously don't understand! Also, I have yet to read my copy of The Diviners. It does sound amazing, but it's SO long, I'm a bit intimidated!

Hello, there! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I read each and every one and will do my best to respond--usually on your blog instead of on mine. I will, however, always answer direct questions. Due to serious time restraints, this blog is now an award free zone, but I appreciate the thought!
