Weekly Rewind
The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.

Throughout my student teaching semester I was using my weekend post as a way to let people know what's going on in my life, so I've decided to rename my weekend post because this feature is more personal than just what books I've received. The Weekly Rewind will be about what's going on with me and my blog, as well as about the books I've added to my shelves.

My Life and Blog

Life: This summer is flying by! I can't believe I'm already two weeks into summer break! This week my husband and I went down to VA for dentist appointments (we are on my insurance which is only good there), and then went to Gettysburg for a day-trip. It ended up being a beautiful day--sunny skies, mid-70s, nice breeze. We've lived in PA for over a decade, but that was the first time we'd been there. It was gorgeous and awe-inspiring. If you are ever in the area, I definitely recommend checking it out.

Sunday is the hub's and I's 11th wedding anniversary. A couple of our friends are having a party (not for our honor), so we'll probably go to dinner on Saturday night and then go to the party on Sunday. Marriage is no joke, especially after spending basically the past two years in a long-distance relationship, so I'm pretty proud of us for making it this long. Lol. We were together for eight years before we got married, so we're actually at nineteen years (which doesn't seem possible).

Blog: I'm being an even worse blogger this summer than I am during school! Being out of town for a couple of days and trying to get my house in order has left me with very little time to think about blogging. I do hope to get back into the swing of things with the few weeks of break I have remaining. I finished With Malice last week and I just finished The Long Game a couple of hours ago. I'd like to write reviews for both. I plan on reading The Season and The Killer in Me next.

New Books: I have a handful of pretties to share with you this week. So without further ado, I hope you are all having fabulous (hopefully) long weekends!  Happy Fourth of July!!

The Killer in Me  by Margot Harrison
I was immediately drawn to that cover. How pretty is that? It's about a girl who is the only one who knows about a serial killer's existence. I've read the first few pages and have to admit that I'm a bit confused on how she knows...but it's early going yet.
The Season by Jonah Lisa Dyer and Stephen Dyer
I have to admit that I was more excited about this tomboy forced into debutante season before I learned it was (yet another) P&P retelling. I'm going to keep an open mind, though.
Shiny Broken Pieces by Sona Charipotra and Dhonielle Clayton
I got about half-way through Tiny Pretty Things before I got distracted and set it aside. It was ok, but not as good as I wanted. I do want to finish it, though, and will give the sequel a chance.
What the Dead Want by Norah Olson
A girl's mother's disappearance is linked to a pre-Civil War house she inherits.
The Singles Game by Lauren Weisberger
I've never read anything by this author, but this book about the rise of a pro tennis player sounds like pulpy summer fun.
All is Not Forgotten by Wendy Walker
This adult thriller about a woman who takes a memory-erasing drug after getting sexually assaulted sounds intriguing. Definitely on the lookout for the adult thriller summer stand-out.

What I snagged from the library

Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies by Lindsay Ribar
This is being compared to Twin Peaks...which peaks my interest. Sorry. Since becoming a teacher, my jokes just keep getting cornier.
The Gratitude Diaries by Janice Kaplan
I'm trying to be more positive. I'm honestly pretty happy and laid-back, for the most part, but I can get grouchy and this book sounds really positive.

Well that's it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, In My Mailbox, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers' weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

Happy Fourth of July!!

  1. Happy Anniversary and Fourth of July to you as well! My husband and I dated five years before we got married, and we actually got married on our dating anniversary, so every year when we have an anniversary we add that +5 years together and it's like wow, we've been together how long?! Though we started dating when we were teens, so in some ways I barely remember my life before him.

  2. Happy anniversary! Gettysburg does sound like a fabulous trip, never been there but would like to one day.

With Malice looks good, I've seen a few reviews and it has me really curious. And All Is Not Forgotten looks good too, I like memory loss stories sometimes. Have a great 4th of July!

Hello, there! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I read each and every one and will do my best to respond--usually on your blog instead of on mine. I will, however, always answer direct questions. Due to serious time restraints, this blog is now an award free zone, but I appreciate the thought!
