Seventeen-year-old Genesis Lee has never forgotten anything. As one of the Mementi—a small group of genetically-enhanced humans—Gena remembers everything with the help of her Link bracelets, which preserve memories perfectly. But Links can be stolen, and six people have already lost their lives to a memory thief, including Gena’s best friend.
Anyone could be next. Which is why Gena is less than pleased to meet a strange but charming boy named Kalan who claims that they’ve not only met, but that Gena knows who the thief is.
The problem is, Gena doesn’t remember Kalan, she doesn’t remember seeing the thief, and she doesn’t know why she’s forgetting things— or how much else she might forget. As growing tensions between Mementi and ordinary humans drive the city of Havendale into chaos, Gena and Kalan team up to search for the thief. And as Gena loses more memories, they realize they have to solve the mystery fast.
Because Gena’s life is unhappening around her.
Why I'm Excited:
It sounds pretty intriguing and I'm loving the idea that memories are confined to bracelets. Plus, I'm always down for a good mystery. The only thing that concerns me is the dude who "knows" her when she doesn't know him. Such a cliché...but I'm definitely planning on giving this one a try.

OMG THAT COVER. THAT TITLE. I really really need this in my life I think. *dashes to Goodreads*
ReplyDeleteAwesome pick! This one is new to me and sounds really unique. I like the mystery aspect of the story, too. I'll definitely be adding this to my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteI'm another one who's never heard of the Unhappening of Genesis Lee but it sounds amazing, and unique too! Love the cover as well, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteMy WoW!
It does kinda sound like a cliche, but the rest of the synopsis sounds intriguing. I love the idea of memories kept in bracelets too! How did she even come up with this? I hope you enjoy this one when it does come out! :D
ReplyDeleteYea I agree, the guy popping out of nowhere who knows all about her has been done a bazillion times. But I love the sound of the rest of this world! Such an interesting take on memory-themed stories!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this but that cover is quite mesmerising!

I like that book cover!
ReplyDeleteI love when the main character has memory issues…that's one of my favorite plots. I never get tired of it. And yes, having the guy that knows her when she doesn't remember him. Cliche, yes. Do I love that? Absolutely! I'm adding this one to my TBR list. Thanks, I hadn't heard of it!! ~Pam
