Weekly Rewind

The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.

Throughout my student teaching semester I was using my weekend post as a way to let people know what's going on in my life, so I've decided to rename my weekend post because this feature is more personal than just what books I've received. The Weekly Rewind will be about what's going on with me and my blog, as well as about the books I've added to my shelves. This post is linked to Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga's Reviews and the Sunday Post over at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Blog and Life

Life: I'm not even thinking about anything this weekend besides vacation. I am typing this up on Thursday because my husband and I are leaving tomorrow. The July 3rd is our anniversary, and we are going to up to the Finger Lakes for a long weekend. We are catching Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on the 2nd, fishing, hiking, etc. I seriously can't wait to just be away and be with my love. It's been a stressful past couple of weeks, and I'm definitely ready to just put it out of my mind for a few days.

Blog and reading: So...just a WoW this week despite my best intentions. I'm still reading, though, which is a good thing. I picked Little Monsters back up a couple of nights ago after setting it aside for the past month or so and am almost finished. I'm enjoying and am certainly curious about the mystery. That has been holding my attention enough that I haven't really been paying much attention to anything else.

New Books: A good haul to share this week. So without further ado, I hope you are all having fabulous weekends!

I See London, I See France by Sarah Mylnowski
I've been a fan of this author since her Red Dress Ink days. I certainly like some of her books more than others, but I'm always excited to see a new one from her. This follows two older teens on their European adventures.
Hello, Sunshine by Leila Howard
After getting rejected from all of the colleges she has applied to, a girl moves to LA and gives herself one year to make it as an actress. I really enjoyed Nantucket Blue from this author (although I never read the follow-up), so I'm excited for this one.
Hello, Sunshine by Laura Dave
Weird that there are two books coming out called Hello, Sunshine on the same day, yeah? This one is adult about a woman whose life is falling apart around her (jobs, husband, house...you know the drill).
Final Girls by Riley Sager
I am kind of obsessed with the premise of this novel: A killer goes after 3 girls who are "final girls"--or the only girls who survived a mass murder (of a sorority or a summer camp). I grew up watching movies like Friday the 13th, so this is so up my alley.
If you say the word witches, I'm probably gonna be interested.
Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero
Scooby-Doo all grown up...and more realistic. It's an intriguing premise, but I have to admit that I've very much struggled to get into it both times I tried--the first time a couple of months ago, and then again last night.
Who's That Girl? by Blair Thornburgh
An average girl is shocked when the next big song happens to be her name and is sung by her former classmate. Can it be about her. My interest has nothing to do with the fact that the song (and girl's name) is Natalie. Nothing at all.
Waste of Space by Gina Damico
Ten teens are on a space ship for a new reality series, but unbeknownst to them, they are actually just in a warehouse. It's a funny premise.

What I snagged from the library

I've about had my fill of books about a teen getting over the death of her sibling, but I'm just so drawn to this cover. My beloved kitty who just passed a couple of months ago was named Juniper, too, so how could I not snag this.
And Then There Were Four by Nancy Werlin
I might have featured this a couple of weeks ago (guess who's too lazy to check) because I checked it out in VA right before I left, but didn't get to it...so snagged it from my PA library. The library's the best, y'all. I'm sure most of you would agree.
Movie:
John Wick 2
The first John Wick was a pleasant surprise...this one was fairly ridiculous. It was fine for what it was, but we definitely ended up Mystery Science Theatering our way through it.

Happy 4th of July!

Well that's it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers' weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

  1. I found Meddling Kids quite enticing too, but I've read one other book by the author and didn't like it, so I haven't picked it up so far. Enjoy the book haul!

Hello, there! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I read each and every one and will do my best to respond--usually on your blog instead of on mine. I will, however, always answer direct questions. Due to serious time restraints, this blog is now an award free zone, but I appreciate the thought!
