Top Ten Tuesday a weekly meme/original feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Click the link to go to their site to see the original list for today plus links to a whole slew of other blogs. After you read mine, of course.

Today's Topic is: Authors who I think deserve more recognization

1. The Reece Malcolm ListInk is Thicker Than Water
Amy Spalding author of The Reece Malcolm List. This debut of a teenager meeting and living with her mother for the first time was so cute and real and lovely. I'm really excited for her next book Ink if Thicker Than Water which is being released in December.

2. Jennifer CloseGirls in White DressesThe Smart One
Jennifer Close author of Girls in White Dresses. This debut about a group of 20-something women trying to make it in those years out of college was absolutely pitch perfect. I wish this was the type of book we meant when we talk about NA.

3. Commencement Maine
J. Courtney Sullivan author of Commencement and Maine. J. Courtney Sullivan is awesome. She just is. Clearly a feminist, she writes books that matter to women with true, flawed characters.

4. PopularShallow Pond
Alissa Grosso author of Popular. Alissa Grosso's debut, Popular, blew me away. The twist was amazing and changed the whole complexity of the novel. I have her newest book on my Kindle, but haven't gotten to it yet.

5. Sloppy Firsts (Jessica Darling, #1)Second Helpings (Jessica Darling, #2)
Megan McCafferty author of the Jessica Darling series. Jessica Darling is my spirit animal. I wish everyone would read this series.

6. http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1371752798p5/6429.jpgPrep Sisterland
Curtis Sittenfeld author of Prep and American Wife. Prep is seriously one of my all-time favorite novels. I've read it a dozen times and I'm still blown aware by the talent of this author.

7. LydiaHoney Don't
Tim Sandlin author of Skipped Parts and the rest of the GroVont series. I love this Wyoming author that writes funny satire. I had the pleasure of attending a writing seminar years ago in which he was a guest speaker/workshop leader and even had a piece critiqued by him.

8. The Lonely Hearts ClubProm and Prejudice
Elizabeth Eulberg author of The Lonely Hearts Club and Prom and Prejudice. Sometimes you just need a cute, fun book. I've read four of this author's books and each one is fast and adorable.

9. How to Talk to a WidowerThis Is Where I Leave You
Jonathan Tropper author of How to Talk to a Widower and This is Where I Leave You.  I really enjoy Jonathan Tropper's books. They are always funny and sad and true and witty. Definitely recommend if you've never read anything by him.

10. The Robber BrideThe Blind AssassinLife Before Man
Margaret Atwood. Awesome author of awesome books. I know almost everyone has read something by Margaret Atwood, but she is just plain amazing and I wish more people were familiar with her work.

Wow. This was really hard. A lot of the authors that I love, like say E. Lockhart and Stephanie Perkins, get a lot of love from my Goodread and blogger friends, but does that mean they are getting the right amount of love from the rest of the world? I don't know. Oh, well. I'm sticking with what I got. I'm excited to see who you wish was getting more love. So link me up!

Hey lovely GFC and new followers, please follow me by Bloglovin as we all know Google Reader has gone/is going by the wayside. (I like to follow back, so please let me know if you're a new follower--and leave a link!) Thank you!!!

  4. Really nice list!
I am listening to Handmaid's Tale on audiobook right now! But I think my favorite of Atwoods is still The Blind Assassin. I think it's one of my favorites of all time. I've heard wonderful things about Jonathan Tropper too, and I am looking forward to reading his latest book which is on my TBR pile.
I've seen the Jennifer Close books everywhere. I think I'll have to pick one up!

  8. Great list! I've heard great things about Jonathan Tropper, but I haven't read any of his books yet. I need to! I loved Prep too (and Maine, but for some reason I couldn't get into Commencement). I should check out Amy Spalding, the Reese Malcolm List looks fun! ~Pam

  9. A lot of these authors are ones who I need to check out, but I read American Wife a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. I haven't read anything else by Sittenfeld, but I'll certainly change that in the future.

  14. I wonder how many people outside of the blogging world know about Megan McCafferty's Jessica Darling series. I know I never heard of it or saw it around until I started blogging and it is too amazing to be kept a secret! I really want to read Commencement. I found out about it last summer and just haven't gotten to it yet, but I've heard really good things. Oh and Prep too, I want to read that. Unfortunately I did not share your love for Popular. The twist really confused me and I felt weird about it. Anyway cool list!

Thanks for stopping by My TTT

  15. Great list, I'm glad you have Amy Spalding on your list, too. I debated putting Jennifer Close on my list, but I didn't love Girls in White Dresses, I still want to give her another try with The Smart One though.

  19. You know, I ALWAYS hear people talking about the Jessica Darling series and I haven't ever remembered to check the books out. Oops. Maybe I should do that soon.

I've only read This Is Where I Leave You, but I really liked that. I've been meaning to read more by Tropper.

  20. Oh, what a wonderful list. I've only read Spalding's Reece Malcolm List, but thanks for pointing out Ink - I've added it to Goodreads. Tropper is on my TBR, but I hadn't heard of Eulberg and I love cute & fun...so I'll add her on the pile, too. :)

Thanks for stopping by my TTT earlier.

  24. I've read quite a bit of Margaret Atwood (so excited for the new book this fall), and really enjoyed the one book by Elizabeth Eulberg that I've read. I'm not familiar with most of the others -- which I guess proves the point that these authors need more recognition! I'll definitely add a few to my list of authors to check out. Nice selections!

  25. I only know a few of these, so I agree, they definitely deserve more recognition. I'm actually planning on reading The Reese Malcolm List as soon as I can possibly fit it in. :)

  26. This is a really great list. I have not heard of some of these authors! And I still need to read something by Margaret Atwood and I've been wanting to read the Reece Malcolm List for a while. Thanks for showcasing things I need to look up!

  27. Ehh you're probably right that these authors deserve more recognition because I haven't read any of their books! Not one. I am probably most ashamed about Margaret Atwood, whom I am aware is quite brilliant.

Hello, there! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I read each and every one and will do my best to respond--usually on your blog instead of on mine. I will, however, always answer direct questions. Due to serious time restraints, this blog is now an award free zone, but I appreciate the thought!
