Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Tyngas Reviews. This meme allows us to share the books we've recently added to our shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! *Clicking the link of a book's title will take you to Goodreads.

I've finally finished grading the 80+ essays and holding the individual conferences with the 80+ students yesterday. I'm beyond exhausted and relieved that it's over! I can definitely see the value of the individual conferences though, and will be doing the same once I have my own classroom. When you give students a paper back that is full of writing, the only thing they are going to look at is their grade and then move on. When you actually take the time to go through an essay line by line, they can see where they are thriving and the areas the need to work on. It really is so important, tiring, but important.

I finally finished Vicious this week. It is an amazing book. I'm hoping to write a review over the weekend, but we'll see how it goes. I don't plan on doing a whole lot more than sleeping and getting a few things done around the house. I've been reading The Naturals on my lunch breaks and would love to finish it over the weekend, as well. We'll see. I'm really not putting any pressure on myself to get anything done outside of work and student teaching at the moment, but I would love to spend some time reading this weekend because I, you know, love reading and all.

This week I got a few books I'm pretty excited to read. So without further adieu, here they are. Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

For Review

This Wicked Game by Michelle Zink
A girl from a old Voodoo family cannot wait to escape New Orleans and the family business, but gets pulled into a mystery with other children of The Guild. I have some serious cover love going with that wrought iron.
Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher
A young girl confesses to a horrible crime through letter written to a man on death row.
Pirouette by Robyn Bavati
Identical twins who were separated at birth and raised by different adoptive families swap lives. The Parent Trap + ballet.

What I snagged from the library

The Clockwork Scarab by Colleen Gleason
So a story about the sister of Bram Stoker and the niece of Sherlock Holmes is a bit of a stretch, but I'm hoping this mystery with two girl detectives is as charming as its potential.
A Midsummer's Nightmare by Kody Keplinger
A teen girl is excited to spend the summer with her father until she finds out his fiancee's son is the boy she slept with on the night of her graduation.

So that's it for me this week. I'm pretty excited about what I added to my shelves this week. What did you add to your shelves? Link me up!
Hey lovely GFC and new followers, please follow me by Bloglovin as we all know Google Reader has gone/is going by the wayside. (I like to follow back, so please let me know if you're a new follower--and leave a link!) Thank you!!!

  7. I ADORED A Midsummer's Nightmare! It turned out to be a lot more serious than I thought it would be, but I related to it a ton, so it was really neat that I had such a connection to the story. I hope you enjoy it! I'm also excited about Ketchup Clouds. That cover is awesome and it sounds different...which is always refreshing.

  11. OMG. You got THIS WICKED GAME. Sooo incredibly jealous, lucky! I really want to read this and I love the cover. Did you get it from Edelweiss? I love the sound of KETCHUP CLOUDS. Looking forward to seeing what you think of it. Yay for THE CLOCKWORK SCARAB! It was so good. Hope you're taking a breather after all that essay grading. And hopefully you don't have another set to grade for awhile :)

    1. Yes, from EW. I'm excited for it. I'm happy to hear the Clockwork Scarab is worth reading. It sounds charming. I have a few smaller things to grade, but my co-op gave me the weekend off. He's just as tired as I am. The next major writing project will be done in pairs, so I'll only have half as much to grade, thankfully.

  22. Respect. I do love teachers who give us parents real feedbacks. You are doing such a lovely, important work.

Anyway, looking forward to your Vicious review. I absolutely adore that book. :)

  23. Everyone is raving about Vicious! I need to know what you thought. I've not read anything from that author yet, but I think I might have to make this one my first. I've had A Midsummer's Nightmare on my shelf forever, and I finally read Keplinger's other two books earlier this year, so I'm ready for that one. I loved the other two and am hoping this is her best yet. :)

Hello, there! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I read each and every one and will do my best to respond--usually on your blog instead of on mine. I will, however, always answer direct questions. Due to serious time restraints, this blog is now an award free zone, but I appreciate the thought!
