Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Tyngas Reviews. This meme allows us to share the books we've recently added to our shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! *Clicking the link of a book's title will take you to Goodreads.

Another week has flown by! I cannot believe how quickly this semester has gone. Only a couple more weeks until Thanksgiving break and then I only have one week left in my student teaching practicum after that--and then it will be time for the dreaded job search. I'm praying my office will continue to employ me part-time for the Spring semester so I still have some income coming in. This week was a short week as last week marked the end of the first nine weeks. Students had Monday and Tuesday off while the teachers had in-service. My co-op let me spend most of the time catching up while he sat in the meetings--which was awesome. I was so far behind in the lesson plan writing I have to do for my graduate program. I didn't get it all done, but I managed to take a chunk out of it.

As far as blog and book news are concerned, I finally posted a review for Vicious. You can find it here.
I finished reading The Naturals a few days ago. I enjoyed it--although not quite as much as I wanted to. I'm hoping to write a review over the weekend, but I have a TON of grading to do, so I'll see how it goes. I've been casually reading a few books, but nothing is really grabbing me yet. When that happens, I tend to just read a chapter out of one book and a chapter out of another, but will not finish anything. The one book I got for review this week is one I've been dying to get my hands on, but I read the first few pages and it is one of those e-arcs that is missing letters--so it makes reading slow-going because you have to decipher what the word should be. I'm debating whether or not to power through or just wait until the book comes out. Decisions, decisions. Hope you all are having a spectacular weekend!

Ink is Thicker Than Water by Amy Spalding
I absolutely adored The Reese Malcolm List and have been dying to get my hands on this book about a teen who feels lost in her unusual family dynamic and gets caught up in a not-so-good relationship with an older boy. Again, the e-arc that I'm reading is missing letters. I've only read the first couple of pages, but I hate having to decipher words because the first two letters are missing. It makes reading so slow. I'll probably power through because I'm excited for this...and maybe it's only the first couple of pages that will be an issue. Fingers crossed.

What I bought

I found these 2 books at the thrift store for $4. I love Goodwill. Love it. My local one is amazing.

Reunited by Hilary Weisman Graham
Three girls who were best friends in middle school hop in a VW van to drive cross-country to see their favorite band's one-time-only reunion concert. It looks pretty cute. I remember when this first came out. I don't know why I didn't pick it up.
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit skeptical about this book and hate the idea of starting a series that has a jazillion books in it, but I'm always so curious about books that are being made into movies and I feel like the only one who hasn't read this. So...

What I snagged from the library

Perfect Ruin by Lauren Destefano
I'm curious about this floating island city and love a good murder mystery, but I'm a bit hesitant to dive into it for no real concrete reason. I do love that gorgeous cover.
I'm excited for this anthology of retellings because it isn't just the usual suspects. Yes, there is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, but there is also one for The Monkey's Paw!

So that's it for me this week. I'm pretty excited about what I added to my shelves. What did you add to your shelves? Link me up!
Hey lovely GFC and new followers, please follow me by Bloglovin as we all know Google Reader has gone/is going by the wayside. (I like to follow back, so please let me know if you're a new follower--and leave a link!) Thank you!!!

  2. I got Ink is Thicker Than Water as well! I haven't looked at my version of it, but that stinks that letters are cut off! I'd get so annoyed. I'm SUPER excited about that book though because The Reece Malcolm List was AMAZING.

  5. You'll have to let me know if Rags and Bones is worth reading. I am so on the fence but I kind of want to. That's a shame about your e-ARC. Bad formatting can really ruin a book!

  6. I didn't really like the first book in the series for Vampire Academy. I thought it was kind of slow, but it gets better as the series progresses.
Great haul, I haven't heard of the other books on your list before today. I'm looking forward to seeing what you think of them.
Already following on Bloglovin' but I added you to my Google+.

  7. I'm really tempted to buy myself a copy of Perfect Ruin, it looks really great. I get curious about books that are made into movies, I usually end up reading them. I've been contemplating Vampire Academy for a while now, but like you, I'm put off by how many books there are in the series. My STS.

  8. I haven't read The Reece Malcolm List, but it does look cute. I hope you enjoy her new one! Vampire Academy...absolutely love that series, but the first book is the weakest one so even if you don't like it that much, keep reading! The third one was so good it hurt and the ending...gah! I still think about it. Ok, that's my pitch on reading VA series. Perfect Ruin was good, but I did have a few issues with it. I wrote a review awhile back. Sounds like you're super busy with other stuff, but have fun reading if you find time! ~Pam

  9. I hope you enjoy Perfect Ruin. I probably will not get to it until the beginning of the year. Vampire Academy has always been tempting, but I haven't started it yet either. I will look for your review to see what you thought of it.

  10. Oh, hey, I got Perfect Ruin too! I imagine a lot of people did because of the recent sale. :) Vampire Academy is an amazing series (the last few in the series are my favorites), and I do hope you'll enjoy it.

Goodwill is pretty awesome. At least, when it has a good book selection.

  11. I've never read the VA books either! I'm still holding out for a cover change on those LOL they are so cheesy looking! But I've heard it's an awesome series. I really enjoyed Perfect Ruin--although it lost me a few times in the middle, as a whole it was really good.

  12. Good luck on the coming weeks for you. It sounds like you'll be incredibly busy. I wish you luck in your pending job search.

I hope you'll enjoy the VA series. I did enjoy it for the most part. I need to start checking out our Goodwill stores. :)

  13. Yay for sweet book deals! Reunited sounds like a very cute book, I like the cover of Rags & Bones, I might need to check that out, as I love retellings haha. Hope you enjoy it! Happy readings.

  14. REUNITED looks really cute! Hopefully it grabs your attention so I can see what you think about it :) The Goodwill near me used to be awesome. They always had some great antiques and a huge media section. I still have a working VCR and would grab some classics that you can't find on DVD. Unfortunately, though, it closed about 5 months ago. I'm still not really sure why. The nearest one now is about 25 minutes away, so I don't ever go. Psst, read PERFECT RUIN!

  15. Uh, I'm sorry, but you will have to read Vampire Academy right away. Like, start tonight. Or right now. Because I bought the first couple of books and then let them collect dust on my shelf. Which was a HUGE mistake. If people tell you it's not like Twilight - for God's sake, believe them! It is not!!! I would actually go as far as saying it's more like Harry Potter. After HP, it's probably my favorite series. There, I said it. Now go start that series :D

  16. Ohhh! The Vampire Academy series is one of my favorites....such a guilty pleasure. I am a little nervous about the movie though--wasn't a big fan of the trailer. Enjoy all of your books!

  17. Vampire Academy is a book that I thought that was okay! I'm probably the only one who didn't love it :(

Hello, there! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I read each and every one and will do my best to respond--usually on your blog instead of on mine. I will, however, always answer direct questions. Due to serious time restraints, this blog is now an award free zone, but I appreciate the thought!
