Don't Even Think About It
Author: Sarah Mlynowski
Publisher: Random House
Release Date: March, 2014
Synopsis from Edelweiss; link to Goodreads:
What happens when a group of Tribeca high school kids go in for flu shots . . . and end up being able to read each others' minds?
We weren't always like this. We used to be average New York City high school sophomores. Until our homeroom went for flu shots. We were prepared for some side effects. Maybe a headache. Maybe a sore arm. We definitely didn't expect to get telepathic powers. But suddenly we could hear what everyone was thinking. Our friends. Our parents. Our crushes. Now we all know that Tess is in love with her best friend, Teddy. That Mackenzie cheated on Cooper. That, um, Nurse Carmichael used to be a stripper.
Since we've kept our freakish skill a secret, we can sit next to the class brainiac and ace our tests. We can dump our boyfriends right before they dump us. We know what our friends really think of our jeans, our breath, our new bangs. We always know what's coming. Some of us will thrive. Some of us will crack. None of us will ever be the same.
So stop obsessing about your ex. We're always listening.

Why I'm Excited:
I've loved Sarah Mylnowski's books since she wrote starting writing chick-lit for the now-debunked publisher Red Dress Ink 10 years ago. This synopsis sounds so cute and interesting. While I'd like to be able to read minds sometimes, I can see where it would cause major, major problems. It's a power I'd want only if I could turn it off when I wanted. To constantly hear other people's thoughts would definitely become a burden. I kind of hate this cover, but this doesn't published for several months, so hopefully it will get a revamp.

Hey lovely GFC and new followers, please follow me by Bloglovin as we all know Google Reader has gone/is going by the wayside. (I like to follow back, so please let me know if you're a new follower--and leave a link!) Thank you!!!
My friends love Sarah's novels, but I have never picked up one of her books! I will definitely have to check out this one. I love the cover! Great pick!
ReplyDeleteWow!! That sounds like an interesting concept. I will have to check out some reviews when it comes out.
ReplyDeleteHere is my WoW: http://jacquesbooknook.blogspot.com/2013/10/waiting-on-wednesday-teardrop-by-lauren.html
I hadn't heard of this one, but the premise is definitely intriguing. Sort of a paranormal Mean Girls/Gossip Girls? If done well, could be really fun. Great pick! ~Pam
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative "side effect"! Thanks for sharing, and enjoy. Here's MY WOW POST
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like it could be a funny book! I'd hate to imagine all the embarrassing things they might hear. Great pick! My WoW.
ReplyDeleteVyki @ On The Shelf
I can't remember where I first saw this one, but yeah, the cover seems...off somehow. And definitely only a power you'd want if you can turn it off. You'd probably go crazy. Great pick. :)
ReplyDeleteHeres mine
Kirsty @ StudioReads
INTERESTING. I don't think I've read any of her books, but I may have to read this one. Thanks for putting it on my radar!
ReplyDeleteRachel @ Beauty and the Bookshelf
This sounds sassy! Definitely looking forward to it now. And yeah, the cover is awful!
ReplyDeleteGood choice :)

Ohh this sounds like a fun book! Thanks, Natalie.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds hilarious -- and makes me wish my flu shot accomplished something besides making my arm hurt for a couple of days. :) It actually looks really interesting -- will check it out!

My Wednesday Post
I want to read this book!! I requested on NG weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back yet. I'm crossing my fingers I get approved at some point!
ReplyDeleteOh, this sounds fun and REALLY different. I can't imagine being able to read everyone's mind. Okay, I CAN imagine it, but I don't think I'd like the ability after awhile. :) And I know that cover is simple, but it's really cute.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any books from this author yet. I'm trying to expand my reading, I mostly stick with horror, sci-fi, or paranormal reads. My friends keep trying to get me into YA, NA and chicklit. This one looks good though. I think it would drive me crazy to be able to hear what people are thinking all the time. It wouldn't be bad if it could be controlled, like selected hearing lol.
ReplyDeleteEverytime I visit your WOW's my TBR gets longer! LOL! I love it! You always have these awesome books I've never heard of! Thanks girl for sharing this one too!
