Weekly Rewind
The new books on my shelves and my week in a nutshell.

Throughout my student teaching semester I was using my weekend post as a way to let people know what's going on in my life, so I've decided to rename my weekend post because this feature is more personal than just what books I've received. The Weekly Rewind will be about what's going on with me and my blog, as well as about the books I've added to my shelves. This post is linked to Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga's Reviews and the Sunday Post over at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

My Life and Blog

Life: Last week I lost one of my beloved cats, Juniper. Two weekends ago, she was really sick when I went home, so my husband and I took her to the emergency vet. They had her for a few days, but her condition was not getting better, and then she took a nosedive. There were so many things that was horrible about the situation. I wasn't there to say good-bye, so my poor husband had to both make the decision AND say good-bye to her alone. We were already a few thousand dollars deep into her treatment, and it still didn't save her. Plus, it was just so fast and unexpected. When we lost our fat kitty earlier this school year, it was the worst, but I had been expecting it because he was sick for a long time. This completely blind-sided me. Heartbroken.

On a more positive note, I do have something to celebrate this weekend. My husband is coming down to VA to spend the weekend with me. Our first date was going to see the movie The Fifth Element, and the studio is doing a limited 20 year anniversary release on Sunday. So we've decided that of course we have to go see it. I can't wait.

Anyway, so glad it is the weekend! There are only 20 more days of school, and boy are my kids acting like it. Also, I watched the movie Sing three times this week because it was the movie all three of my classes voted for their reward day (they took their state reading test on Monday, so Tuesday was reward day). It was actually pretty good...but three times! Those songs are still stuck in my head.

Blog and reading: Nothing on the blog this week. I realized after I had already turned out the lights and had snuggled under the covers on Tuesday night that I hadn't posted a WoW. Oh, well. I'm currently reading Little Monsters, which I'm digging, Ramona Blue (still), Here Lies Daniel Tate, and Into the Water--which is unfortunately not as compelling as Girl on the Train (at least so far at ~ 60 pages).

New Books: Just a few books this week, but I'm excited for all of them. So without further ado, I hope you're all having fabulous weekends!

Little Monsters by Kara Thomas
I'm really enjoying this one so far. It follows a girl (with a so far just hinted dark past), whose friend goes missing after a party after her friend ditched and went to the party without her.
Here Lies Daniel Tate by Cristin Terrill
A con-man worms his way into a family by pretending to be their long-lost son, only to find out that he chose the wrong family. I've been very much looking forward to this one. I've started reading it, but Little Monsters has been holding my attention more.
The Heirs by Susan Reiger
After their father dies, five adult brothers' lives are thrown into turmoil when a woman claims partial ownership of their inheritance by claiming she had two kids with their father. I enjoy a good upperclass family drama, so I have high hopes for this one.

What I snagged from the library

Ok, so I still have to read the second book...but I'm still excited for this.
Duels and Deception by Cindy Anstey
I still need to read Love, Lies, and Spies (despite owning it), but I dig these Austenish-style books this author is writing.
Movie
Miss Sloane
I'm looking forward to this woman takes on the government story. I really like Jessica Chastain.

Well that's it for me this week. Feel free to leave a link to whatever weekend post you do (Stacking the Shelves, The Sunday Post, etc). I love to see what books people have recently snagged and especially enjoy hearing about my fellow bloggers' weeks. I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

  2. I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. :( It's so hard to lose a pet. I am currently reading Always and Forever. I love me some Jenny Han! I hope you enjoy Duels. I couldn't get into it and ended up DNF it. Have a great weekend!

Hello, there! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I read each and every one and will do my best to respond--usually on your blog instead of on mine. I will, however, always answer direct questions. Due to serious time restraints, this blog is now an award free zone, but I appreciate the thought!
