This is one of the most original and funniest books about cancer (I'm aware of how that sounds) you'll ever read.
How to Talk to a Widower by Jonathan Tropper
This story follows a man in his late 20s getting over the death of his wife while dealing with his teenage stepson.

ReplyDeleteGirl In The Woods Reviews
What a great list! Winger is one I was interested in as soon as I read the description, and your review was the clincher. On to the reading pile it goes!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like I need to check out Me, Earl and the Dying Girl and How To Talk To A Widower as well.
Erin @ YA Book Crush
Great list! I'll have to check out The Cranes Dance...I love ballet books and this one sounds intriguing. I've heard a lot about Me, Earl, And The Dying Girl. I should really make a point to read it sometime. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI have CRANES DANCE in my TBR but haven't heard ANYTHING about it so far. I do love a good unreliable narrator :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these books, but some will make it to my TBR for sure.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT post.
Happy reading :)
I haven't read any of these, but I was wondering about SHARP OBJECTS, since I enjoyed Flynn's GONE GIRL. Knowing it's about all that stuff, though, hmmm ... I think I'll leave it alone. Thanks for the head's up!
ReplyDeleteThe Bell Jar is one of my favorite books ever, so I wish my brain hadn't been so "YA! YA! YA!" because otherwise it would've been on my list. And I just watched The Descendants and love it, so now I need to read the book!
ReplyDeleteSo...I don't know any of these books...I have heard of Me and Earl(..) before, though. It sounds interesting :)
ReplyDeleteThe Cranes Dance is on my wishlist, it sounds like the kind of book I love. Rachel's Holiday is a firm favourite, I love all the Walsh sisters but Rachel holds a special place in my heart. Loved Gone Girl but haven't read Sharp Objects yet, glad to hear its another winner :-)
ReplyDeleteBookishTrish @ Between the Lines
I haven't read ANY of these books, but I'll be adding a few of them to my TBR because they sound really good!
ReplyDeleteGreat list :)
I can't believe I forgot The Bell Jar from my list. That should definitely be on there.
ReplyDeleteSarah
I haven't read any of these books, but I just add some to my TBR list.

Here is My Top 10 Tuesday
I totally forgot some of these like Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and The House on Mango Street! So good and appropriate for the topic today! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI have never read The Bell Jar. I feel like I'm committing some sort of reader sin by admitting that lol Gonna have to do that one of these days. And I saw your review of Winger the other day and unlike you the cover interested me right away (haha I'm weird) So that's definitely going on my list as well. Lots of good stuff here :) Thanks for stopping by my TTT
ReplyDeleteSheri @ Tangled Up In Books
Surprisingly, I haven't read ANY of the books on your list, maybe because they aren't YA (or don't seem like it). But The Cranes Dance and Winger sound pretty good. Cool list!
ReplyDeleteThe Virgin Suicides was amazing (both the book and the film.) Winger is getting great buzz, and I've already requested it from my library.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting!
Stephanie (Go Flash Go) @ Read, Rinse, Repeat

Great picks! I've heard of many of these, but some I haven't so thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog earlier :)
I really want to read Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl and The Virgin Suicides even if this list is the first time I've ever heard of them. They sound real interesting. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Cranes Dance is a terrific book! I read it earlier in the year and was really impressed. Good choice! I thought The Descendants was very good and moving as well. Nice list!
ReplyDeleteLisa
Interesting list, I haven't heard about most of them but they sound like very tough books. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT.
I haven't read any of these. I don't really do a lot of issue books, but I'm trying to branch out. I may look some of these up!
ReplyDeleteEms

ReplyDeleteMy TTT
I really need to read The Bell Jar, I keep on seeing comments/blog posts in the blogosphere that praise it. I haven't heard of quite a few of these but I'm definitely checking them out!
ReplyDeleteVery nice list Natalie! I honestly haven't read any of them, but I was always interested in watching The Descendants. Perhaps I'll read the book first instead!
